Oni

[This article has been retroactively posted from my Kuro5hin Diary.]

I just played the Oni demo from Bungie on my Mac and I totally recommend it to anyone that’s looking for a mystery/combat game.

You can check out the Oni Web site, if you want. Demos are available for both PC and Macintosh.

Deer!

[This article has been retroactively posted from my Kuro5hin Diary.]

Ugh! I just hit a deer tonight on my way home from work.

I went and got my monthly haircut tonight and I took the interstate back home. I got off one exit before my usual (since there’s no gas station at the usual exit) and ended up taking this one road that goes near a very large city park called Eagle Creek Park that has lots of deer.

As I was going down the road a deer magically appears and puts a nice big dent in my right-side fender. I have no idea what happened to the deer because it just took off. The sheriff deputy looked in the woods, but didn’t find the deer. I feel bad because it is probably dying or already dead.

What really pisses me off is that if I had just slowed down a little sooner I might have missed it AND now I have to make a claim with my insurance company, and my policy has a $500 deductable. Of course, I know that is pretty standard, but I just hate that I have to spend that much money on fixing my car which does nothing but take me to work and home every day, as well as to my parents house on Sunday (to do laundry of course).

What’s really weird about this whole thing is that I never take the road that I was on when I hit the deer AND exactly one year ago yesterday I was in another car accident (not my fault, thankfully).

Now is the time when I wish I lived in a place like New York City where I didn’t have to own a car to get around. They can be such a huge waste of money.
