Drama in the Parking Lot
January 30, 2005 | In: Personal
I went out tonight with friends, and then later went to the Red Eye Care for a little breakfast. I wish I had simply come home instead.
So, I parked my car and had one of my neighbors (one of the people still renting) ask me if I can help push his truck out from being stuck. Being a good guy, I said, “sure, no problem.”
I’ll try to explain the situation. He basically attempted to drive his truck up this unpaved, snow-covered driveway, which takes you to part of the common area and around to the back of his townhome. On the left are trees, and on the right is a concrete wall, which holds up the dirt. On the other side of the wall is a parking lot. The wall increases in height as you go along the driveway. I know you’re probably unable to picture it, but I’ll try to take a picture tomorrow.
He asked me to drive my car up the driveway to push his truck forward, but when I did that, it simply fell back and got caught even worse than before. The bumper is now resting on the back of another car.
The only way this thing is coming out is by having a tow truck pull it forward. Of course, he doesn’t have the $75 to pay for it. So, I offered to do it, on the belief that he is a nice guy (who has, in the past, shoveled snow off my porch out of the goodness of his heart) and will pay me back. I called the tow truck company who was reluctant to come out after I explained the situation, but thankfully they’re on their way. They should be here in about ten minutes.
I’ll update you later.
