The Queer Eyes

Bravo introduced a new show called Queer Eye for the Straight Girl not too long ago, and I’ve started watching them. The queers are just as funny as on the Guy show, but the straight girls don’t seem to require the extensive amount of makeover as the guys. It is more about helping them accomplish something — like a wedding or some shit.

I’m not sure I find the Girl show as interesting as the other, but that may have something to do with the fact that it is filmed in Los Angeles, and I’ve got a huge bias for New York City.

Discouraged & Unmotivated

Today is Saturday and I didn’t get out of bed until 1:30 PM. My home is in disorder, with bits of paper all over the floors (this is the cat’s fault), and a few piles in my office and living room. Oh, lets not forget all the clothes stacked on my bedroom floor and the body (ass) hair that manages to accumulate on my toilet. Sorry for the gross visual there.

I’m in the middle of trying to sort out my life, again. This past week brought the end of yet another romantic relationship, leaving me feeling very discouraged. Work has been stressful, too. It’s very tiresome to work with people who are never happy with their jobs. Plus, I can not stand being crammed in to that small room with three other people. I’m eager for us to move to the new building where I might get my own cubicle, if I’m lucky.

I’m going to grab a trash bag and start throwing out things. Getting this place in some kind of decent order will make me feel better. I also get wait for Spring. I’m sick of it being cold here.

Review: Constantine

I saw Constantine with my friend Tony tonight at one of those overcrowded sneak preview showings. It was another silly engagement put on by a local teen rock station and the Gannett-owned arts and entertainment weekly newspaper.

The story itself was pretty interesting, but it came off as just another Hollywood film with over-produced special effects and Keanu-specific cheese. It could have been much better.

New XML Feed

Unfortunately, Blogger only publishes Atom XML feeds. If you wanted to get RSS, you would be out of luck. Fortunately, the folks at FeedBurner make it asy for anyone to take any XML-based feed and convert it to any other format.

In other words, if you have an RSS-only reader and your favorite blog (e.g. mine) is only available in Atom, you can use FeedBurner to convert it to RSS. The link to do so is provided below.

Hawt Orb Action

I know you are all going to be jealous, but my Ambient Orb arrived in the mail today.

You’re probably wondering what such a thing does. Well, it is nearly 1:00 AM and I don’t feel like explaining it, so I will provide a link, which explains all you need to know.

http://www.ambientdevices.com/cat/orb/orborder.html

I currently have it set to display a color corresponding to the current temperature outside. It’s about 22 degrees outside, so eventually it will show a blue’ish hue (like the one in the picture you see below) once it synchronizes with its network, which will hopefully be sometime before the return of Christ.

Ambient Orb on Desk

The company which makes the device has an SDK that allows one to create a custom channel. Maybe I can automatically have the orb change color depending on my mood? When I’m upset it will burn fire engine red; or, when I’m sad it’ll glow a somber blue. None-the-less, I should be able to make this thing do something interesting besides display the temperature.

Oh, if you think I spent a ton of money on this thing, you’re mistaken. I got it off eBay: the preferred place to buy used, useless electronics.
