The Net Monkey

I know it is against my religion and all, but I think Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) is a very nice product. We had a demonstration yesterday and it would seem that we’ve made the decision to buy it here at work.

MOM, if you don’t know, is software that allows people like me to monitor network servers and other devices. Essentially, it notifies us of problems, such as a server being down or a problem with our web site.

So, like Big Brother, only it costs money?

It is similar, but easier to setup and manage. It also has vendor-supported management packs making it very easy to start monitoring whatever you need very quickly.

Remeber! This is for Windows! It requires more monitoring to fix problems!
