Nokia 6682 Problems

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how much I loved my new Nokia 6682, but my gaiety has ceased as of late due to several significant problems.
- Whenever I restart the phone, I loose all of my call logs. This isn’t a huge problem for me, but it would be nice if it didn’t do that.
- Also, when I go in to my contact last after a restart, I am asked if I want to copy my contacts from my SIM card. This is the kind of thing you only want to do when you first enable the phone. I once mistakenly hit yes and ended up having to delete several duplicate contacts on my list.
- It sometimes likes to restart on its own. This has happened at least three times, as far as I know; but not during a phone call, fortunately.
- My removable MMC card went corrupt, causing me to format it. I was deleting some pictures that I took earlier, and it just suddenly stopped working. I ended up loosing all of the applications, ringtones, and themes I put on it. Fortunately, the applications and themes were downloable again, for free, but I had to repurchase the ringtones I wanted. My lesson is learned: copy really important files to the phone’s internal memory.
I’m not the only one having these issues, either. Take a look at the Phone Scoop forum and you’ll see lots of people having similar problems. Many have sent back the phone, too, which is unfortunate, especially since this is such a nice phone.
I’m hoping that Nokia and Cingular release an updated firmware soon to fix these annoying (and potentially costly) problems.
