Is it me or does anyone else get annoyed when someone asks you why you’re single?
Future Potential Boyfriend: So, how come you’re still single? Me: It’s because I stalk every man who says hello to me. Me: Where did you say you live?
Update: (The above quoted conversation is entirely fictional.)
How the hell am I supposed to answer that question? More often than not, I usually just tell them that I haven’t met the right guy and that I’d rather be single until that happens.
Anyway, I doubt the guy who asked me that question the other day intended to offend me, but it is a bit of a rude question. It sort of implies that there’s something wrong with me because I’m single.
Maybe it is just me? Maybe it is just that you can’t understand someone’s context and tone in an instant message?
Probably my favorite of the event were the products available from Redstone Meadery. It seems that their products will soon be available here locally, but I may just go ahead and mail order.
A couple of Tuesdays ago, Shane and I stopped dating. Seeing someone over a distance is a challenge and it depends on both parties having the ability to commit the time to making it happen.
It is unfortunate this happened because we both really liked each other, but, at last for now, it just isn’t going to work. We’re both busy guys and have our priorities. Maybe circumstances will change in the future? One never knows.
In family-related news, I went with my family to Grandma’s 95th birthday party. The last couple of years has been rough for my grandmother because of her declining health, but it was nice to visit with her and to have the family together.
Work’s been intense, for me, but I have felt like I’ve been in bit of a groove lately and have been more productive than in the past. I’ve got one big project on my plate right now and it seems to be doing well. I’m very excited to see what we end up doing over the next year.
Today is the Brew-Ha-Ha at the Phoenix Theatre. I was told that the Phoenix has sold the most pre-sale tickets than anytime in the past. Excellent!
I wanted to send Shane some music videos this past week, but couldn’t do it in a reasonable fashion because these videos were old MPEG-1 movies from years ago and are just take too long to transfer.
So, I did what any reasonable geek (who owns QuickTime Pro) would do and tried to convert the movies. That worked in QuickTime Pro, actually, but there was a bit of a problem. No sound.
It turns out that these MPEG-1 files had a muxed sound stream. In other words, the sound was mixed in with the video in one big stream. You’d have to separate them out first before converting them to a contemporary video format and codec.
I wracked my brain and attempted to figure out how to do this without paying money, but I had no luck until I stumbled upon MPEG Streamclip. It’s a free application which easily converts those old MPEG-1 movies to any supported QuickTime format (in this case, MPEG-4 with H.264).
If you have some old movies laying around that you’d like to re-encode in to the latest codecs, give this MPEG Streamclip a try.
Have you ever taken the time to browse through the channels above 100 on your digital cable service? Well, tonight I did, and I discovered my new favorite show: Pants-Off Dance-Off on Fuse.
The concept is pretty simple; you strip down to your undies while dancing to your favorite music. They seem to have a bit of everything: black, white, dwarf, gay, straight, old, young, trashy, classy, fat, skinny, etc. which makes for an interesting show.
All performances are archived online, for your viewing pleasure. They also give you the power to rate each dancer.
Some of the guys are really sexy, at least at-a-glance, while other dancers are just outright tragic. It’s both sexy and a proverbial train wreck; you just can’t keep your eyes off of it. And neither can I, for it is around 2:30 AM and I should be going to bed.
