"So, how come you're still single?"

That question is not easily answered. Those who ask it expect AN answer, but truth be told there are several answers. For most of us, the reason why we're still single is the reasons why we're still single. If I were to answer that line honestly, I'd have to say, "Oh there are so many things! But I don't have the time to tell you." It's never a good idea to go into rants, in public.

I don't think it's offensive at all. Perhaps they're just making conversation. Perhaps they want to know why you're single because the assumption is "you seem normal and nice and cute... so why hasn't anyone snatched you up?" That's usually MY reasoning behind that question and I usually get the answers I need from their response. To get overly offended by a simple question and blow it completely out of proportion...? I'd walk away thinking "my GOD! I'm glad I asked THAT before asking them out..."

But that's just MY two cents.

I have gotten that question on several occasions. I don't understand it myself. I think it's a dumbass question.

But, I always answer it. "I don't know?"

Maybe I should ask them, "Why are YOU single?"

Usually, they aren't single, they are just in an open relationship and looking to play. I hate that. Bitch you have a boyfriend already. Some of us are having a hard enough time as it is finding one and you are out looking to find something extra! Fuck that. Then they bitch about it later when they are single and wonder what went wrong. Duh!

Okay, I think I was to long winded on this comment...lol

Yeah. It's a dumb question to ask in general. I'm with ya. Like we should have a magical answer as to why we're single or lonely or whatever. I got this one the other day,

Idiot Guy
"Where were you when I lived in Columbus? and how come you're still single?"

My reply
"Well, when you lived here I was In hell with satan making pipe bombs with him and his minions. One day in the process, I blew my hand off with said pipe bomb. Not many guys want to date a hell-ridden guy minus a hand. Also, it's because I have a tendancy to lick my own ass for cleanliness."

Idiot Guy Reply
"LOL, so what's up today?"

Um, I guess he didn't understand I was being a sarcastic bastard. :)

I would have seen that question the same way - it's pretty weird. And I get ticked off by people assuming that everyone wants to be in a relationship, too. Everyone doesn't have to pair off all the time. I enjoyed being single, and I enjoy being in a relationship. There are advantages both ways.
