Nokia recently release their Phone Software Update service, which supports many of their recent S60 devices. I’m happy to say that I was able to use this service to upgrade my 6682 to the latest firmware.
Here’s what I did.
I bought the CA-53 USB cable from someone on eBay; it wasn’t expensive. This is what I used to connect the phone to my PC since I didn’t get a cable with the phone.
Backed up all of my data using Nokia PC Suite. I did this in case something went wrong with the upgrade, to prevent data loss.
The upgrade deleted all of my contacts and other bits, but this was expected as there was a warning about it. Using the restore feature in PC Suite, I was able to get my data back.
I initialized the device with iSync on my Mac, to ensure that the phone had the most recent contact and calendar data.
The phone appears to be working and all of my previous issues appear to have been addressed with this new firmware upgrade.
As you can see, they were quite large lumps of hail and they did quite a number on my car, as they did to so many other vehicles and homes in the city.
Well, I finally got my car repaired, after slacking off for several months. After the repair shop accounted for every dent, the original estimate from the insurance company doubled. On the roof alone, they found 300 dents. Wow!
They were able to do the paintless dent removal process on my car, which means that no panels were replaced. I had the work done at Auto Dynamics up on Pendleton Pike. They did an excellent job and I highly recommend them.
Sometimes I have this weird mental block where I have zero motivation to update this blog because I am thinking that it’ll be difficult to write up something. Of course, whenever I actually sit down and start typing, I’m usually not lacking anything to say.
Anyway, I was in Ohio about three weeks ago, meeting up with my friend Steve (who lives in San Francisco, but is from the Akron area in Ohio) and heading up to Cedar Point in Sandusky.
Drove to the Akron, Ohio, area Friday, August 26, after work.
The friends of Steve’s who were going on the trip were significantly younger and straight, so it was a bit strange being around those guys, especially at first. I always feel awkward when I’m thrown in to a group of people I don’t know.
Cedar Point itself was a lot of fun, but every roller coaster gave me a huge headache and there wasn’t much that could get rid of it.
The Top Thrill Dragster is fucking amazing and scary as hell. We were going to do it, but time was not on our side, so we skipped it.
On Sunday, I went with Steve and his friend Cory down to the north end of Columbus to this car club at Alum Creek State Park. It was on the way home, for me, and turned out to be a lot of fun.
We swam in Alum Creek Reservoir.
So, after the meeting in the park, the car club guys decided to head to Hooters. Steve and I weren’t feeling the Hooters vibe, so we decided to to go the mall nearby. Go figure, right? We hit this chocolate shop and talked for a while. It was nice.
Afterwards, I took Steve back to Hooters to meet up with Cory and came back home.
Lastly, here’s a video I made of the Dragster.
Freaky, eh?
All-in-all, it was a very good trip. It was a lot of fun spending time with Steve and his friends.
