Upgraded My Nokia 6682
September 28, 2006 | In: Technology
Nokia recently release their Phone Software Update service, which supports many of their recent S60 devices. I’m happy to say that I was able to use this service to upgrade my 6682 to the latest firmware.
Here’s what I did.
- I bought the CA-53 USB cable from someone on eBay; it wasn’t expensive. This is what I used to connect the phone to my PC since I didn’t get a cable with the phone.
- Backed up all of my data using Nokia PC Suite. I did this in case something went wrong with the upgrade, to prevent data loss.
- The upgrade deleted all of my contacts and other bits, but this was expected as there was a warning about it. Using the restore feature in PC Suite, I was able to get my data back.
- I initialized the device with iSync on my Mac, to ensure that the phone had the most recent contact and calendar data.
The phone appears to be working and all of my previous issues appear to have been addressed with this new firmware upgrade.
Thanks, Nokia.
