Vowell & Rackoff
This past Thursday I saw Sarah Vowell and David Rakoff at the Circle Theatre.
The best quote from the evening came when David Rakoff said in an aside, “You can suck a mile of cock, but that doesn’t make you Oscar Wilde.” He was referring to how being gay doesn’t necessarily make someone creative. Perhaps a bit crafty, though?
Well, anyway, I had a very good time and I look forward to reading more of their work.
David Rakoff is so funny. I read “Fraud” a few years ago, and it was great. He’s incredible verbose, and I swear I had to get the dictionary out every couple of pages to figure out some of his vocabulary.
He also has a crazy part in the “Strangers With Candy” movie that came out last year. He basically doesn’t have any dialogue in the who picture, but he’s still funny.
